One of the most pivotal subjects in analyzing the foreign and security policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran at regional and transnational levels is the functionality of its regional policy in enhancing the system's efficacy concerning external security. The core research question thus revolves around: How has Iran's regional policy influenced the efficacy of its political system in terms of external power dynamics and national security? Utilizing neorealist theory and a descriptive-analytical methodology, the study posits that the Islamic Republic, through its calculated regional policy and deployment of diverse power instruments, has successfully countered various regional and extra-regional threats to its external security. Iran has effectively employed diplomatic tools to manage conflict escalation with the United States and its Western and regional allies while leveraging other instruments -including state and non-state allied capacities within the Axis of Resistance -to establish a favorable balance of power against regional and extra-regional actors in West Asia. This strategy has not only fortified Iran's regional influence and strategic penetration but also preserved and expanded its alliance network across the region. Concurrently, Iran has neutralized security instability stemming from the actions of the United States and the Zionist regime, including regional expansionism, while countering the dual threats of regional terrorism and the latent risk of military aggression against its territory.
