Iran has actively engaged as a prominent player in international relations within several adjacent regions, seeking to expand its sphere of influence. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the emergence of newly independent states, Iran's attention shifted toward Central Asia. Tehran's regional engagement in Central Asia has primarily been grounded in economic and cultural dimensions, with minimal involvement in heightened geopolitical sensitivities. This study employs a descriptive-analytical research methodology combined with an interdisciplinary approach, integrating foreign policy analysis within a futures studies framework utilizing scenario planning. By applying two strategic management models (SWOT and PESTEL) to assess internal strengths and weaknesses alongside external opportunities and threats, the research evaluates the efficacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran's economic diplomacy in Central Asian countries. Subsequently, it proposes actionable policy recommendations to enhance the effectiveness of Iran's foreign policy strategies in the region. The findings indicate that while Iran's economic diplomacy in Central Asia has demonstrated gradual progress given existing domestic capacities and external constraints, it has yet to reach optimal levels of performance. Notably, the Islamic Republic's cultural diplomacy has served as the foundational infrastructure facilitating bilateral economic relations with these republics.
