One of the ways developing or third-world countries secure financing is by attracting foreign investment. This research aims to examine legal mechanisms for guaranteeing international investment, with an emphasis on stabilization clauses and commitment provisions. The study is descriptive-analytical in nature and has been conducted using the note-taking method from library sources. In addressing the research question - whether the commitment provision, as a legal mechanism to guarantee the stabilization clause in private contracts, is accepted in the international community to secure foreign investment - it must be stated that foreign investment contracts between states and foreign nationals are, in principle, considered private contracts. From the perspective of investors and their home states, subjecting these contracts to domestic legal oversight gives host governments leeway to interfere in them. Thus, the acceptance of stabilization clauses and commitment provisions as a legal principle remains questionable and can only partially guarantee investment protection. Moreover, the basis of a state's international responsibility is not the contract itself but rather its obligation under an international treaty to protect investments
