The establishment of sustainable security is neither feasible nor achievable without the application of security governance. Security governance entails the regulation of processes, mechanisms, and instruments to attain security. Nations across the globe have adopted various forms of security governance to achieve their (internal) security and have prioritized its implementation in their policy agendas. The Islamic Republic of Iran, grounded in its own principles and foundations, is likewise implementing a distinct model of security governance that embodies fundamental divergences from prevailing security governance frameworks in the contemporary world. Undoubtedly, the adoption and implementation of non-indigenous security governance models cannot yield the anticipated outcomes or desired results. The core issue addressed in this article is the lack of theoretical elaboration on why non-Islamic security governance paradigms remain incompatible and inadmissible within the country. The objective of this study is to systematically articulate critiques levied against non-Islamic (positivist) security governance. The author’s findings demonstrate substantial epistemological, ontological, methodological, and anthropological critiques of positivist non-Islamic security governance, which stand in direct contradiction to the philosophical foundations of the Islamic Republic.
