Joint operations refer to military operations conducted by forces from more than one branch of the armed forces. These operations encompass collaboration between forces as well as the optimal utilization of each force’s strengths and weaknesses to achieve an ultimate objective at the strategic or operational level. In joint operations, the strength of one force compensates for the weaknesses of another, resulting in synergy. Efficiency, operational freedom, and flexibility are the primary reasons for employing joint operations to achieve military objectives. The use of diverse units from different branches of the armed forces in joint operations reduces operational risk. Conducting joint drills and combat exercises among different forces enhances interoperability and mitigates friction between disparate command systems. The objectives of this study are to introduce theories of joint operations and to examine land, air, and maritime joint operations in an integrated manner. Furthermore, this research seeks to evaluate how joint functions are applied in military operations and advocates for a balance that integrates historical lessons with contemporary military needs. The study adopts an applied research approach and is descriptive in methodology. Data collection is based on library research and the analysis and translation of texts from several military theorists worldwide.
