An Analysis of the Political and Military Accomplishments of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Abstract

The Islamic Revolution of Iran, since its victory in 1357 SH, has generated substantial accomplishments across various domains throughout its four-decade trajectory. These achievements are demonstrably significant both at domestic/national levels and beyond territorial boundaries. The core research question addressed in this article concerns the political and military accomplishments of the Islamic Republic of Iran from its establishment to the present. It appears that the Islamic Republic has attained notable political achievements, including support for Muslims and oppressed populations worldwide a policy derived from its religious ideology and Iranian Shiite identity. This Islamic-Shiite identity has furthermore facilitated backing for resistance groups defending subjugated Muslim populations, while simultaneously enabling the preservation of political independence free from external domination at both domestic and international levels. Notably, the imposed war with Iraq's Ba'athist regime proved instrumental in achieving military self-sufficiency and, more broadly, contributed to the Islamic Republic's military accomplishments. This article employs a descriptive-analytical methodology, utilizing both digital and library resources, to comprehensively examine the political and military achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
