Abstract
The Gulf of Oman is a geographical region located in the southeast of the Islamic Republic of Iran and is considered a geopolitical complement to the Persian Gulf. In the current situation, the Oman Sea basin is considered a relatively unknown environment in various aspects, including the neglect of the role of geopolitical factors and interests of neighboring countries and other regional and trans-regional powers in this area and in relation to the country's defense issues. This will lead to the loss of many opportunities and the increase and proximity of threats to the country's national interests in this area. The upcoming research will seek to find an answer to the question: Given the important geopolitical and geoeconomic position of the Sea of Oman, what will be its impact on the security-economic policies and policies of the Islamic Republic? In this study, using a descriptive-explanatory method and a research approach, we will reach the conclusion that the Sea of Oman, being far from the margins, tensions, and developments of the Middle East region, along with its historical transit and geoeconomic identity, is located in the peripheral region of the strategic energy ellipse, whose distinctive features are commerce, a dynamic economy, and transit. The North-South and East-West transit axes are the link between the Persian Gulf and East Asia, which enables trade exchanges between the Persian Gulf countries and Central Asia. Improving regional relations between Iran and its southern Arab neighbors will not only have favorable political and regional consequences, but will also lead to economic prosperity for Iran.
